Welcome to The Black Country STEM Hub

Here to help inspire the next generation of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers and Mathematicians in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

As in all developed countries, the UK recognises the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (the "STEM" topics) as essential tools for wealth creation, and balancing high standards of living with sustainability and environmental issues. There is a need for young people with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics skills to live and work in the Black Country to contribute towards economic regeneration. The Black Country STEM Hub enables young people to make informed decisions about future career paths in STEM. We support industry in reducing the STEM skills gap, assist teachers in delivery of the STEM curricula and constantly work towards raising the profile of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in the Black Country.

“Science and Technology are increasingly vital in the world today and the study of these subjects benefits all of us whether we realise it or not. Scientists like me have a very important role to play in inspiring the next generation to see these areas as exciting – both through sharing experiences and offering young people the chance to get involved in practical work in a real-life scientific environment." Lord Professor Robert Winston, a supporter of STEMNET’s Ambassadors programme
